We have fall weather but no trees to watch change colors so enjoy an Aspen.

This weekend was a hard one for me.  I struggled a lot with remembering that there will be suffering and trials but God is there through it all.   I may never know why he uses the things he does to refine me but I find comfort in the fact that he loves me enough to refine me.

I can't say that I have read through 1 Peter in recent years.  Yes I have heard teachings from it but its not a book I have done in my morning quite time.    If you were to ask me my favorite book of the bible I would normally say James but for this stage of my life I feel like its 1 Peter.    It has given me so much comfort this weekend.

I also found time to do my quite time this morning.  Well it wasn't so quite, Bristol asked if I would read to her.  So this morning we studied 1 Peter 4 and 5.

These are my favorite verses from 1 Peter.

So be truly glad.  There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
1 Peter 1:6-7

Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.
1 Peter 4:13

In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.
1 Peter 5:10
