Wednesday randomness

I am blogging from the backyard again.
The kids have turned their water bucket into a outdoor bath tub.

But they are having fun.

I have been sewing quite a bit this week.  That is what happens when you go to Joann's for the first time in almost 6 months.  I had forgotten what new fabric looked like.  I love that store.
My phone randomly rotates pictures.  It thinks its smarter than me.

Eldon just took off his diaper and threw it out of the outdoor bath tub.   LOVELY!   I am really thankful the neighbors cant see in our backyard.

This past weekend me and Jeremy went out to lunch, A-L-O-N-E.  It was so peaceful.  We both sat there and enjoyed our food and not once did either of us get covered in a cold drink.

After lunch we hit up Target.  I love Target. But Target is very dangerous to the checkbook.

Am I the only one who forgets that they can charge their phone via the computer?

Oh back on the topic of sewing, I converted a pair of old pants into shorts.  I hate shorts.  Before this I owned 2 pair of shorts and one of them is maternity style.   I would much rather wear a pair of jeans and a cardigan than shorts and a tshirt.  I am weird like that.  But Jeremy loves when I wear shorts.  He says I have amazing legs and need to show them off more often.  I think not.  But since I like to make him happy I decided to convert a pair of pants.  I can't wear store bought shorts.  They are way to short and since all my height is in my torso they never fit right in the waist.
I really do like how they turned out.  Maybe I will wear them more than once or twice this summer.

I need to do my 365 pictures from this week.   Can you believe its been a year since I started this project?  I can't.

Friday Eldon has a follow up doctors appointment.  Hopefully we can finally get to the bottom of what is causing the recurrent croup because let me tell you there is nothing quite as scary as having to rush to the hospital because your son can barely breath. I am really ready to be over these little episodes.

Tomorrow I get the last 2 disc of Gilmore Girls.  I am sad to see it end again.  Although after re watching all the seasons it should have ended earlier. The last 2 season are no where near as good as the first 5.

That is all the randomness I have this Wednesday.

Wednesday Randomness

This week has been really good.
This picture was Bristol's idea

Saturday we went to the lake again.  My new favorite place.  I know I have said it before but I love the water. I always feel at home when I can sit and relax with water around me.   I love how peaceful it is.  I love the calming effect it has on my soul.  I love that I may be super stressed out before we get there but I leave calm, peaceful, and ready to tackle the week.

Bristol and Eldon have been very well behaved this week.   For the most part they are listening, there have been very little break downs, and they are happy to spend time with me.   Sharing is a constant battle but one that I am not going to back down on.

Right now Eldon is reading his favorite book which is the Great Truck Games and Bristol is reading a Hot Rodder Magazine.  She will now only sit and read Daddy's Magazines or a book about turtles.

One reason I think Bristol and Eldon are listening so well is because we didn't go to Grandma and Grandpa's house last weekend.   They are to young to realize that while Grandma and Grandpa have a set of rules for their house when we are at home mommy and daddy's rules apply.   So instead of battling this week to make sure they are following our rules we didn't have that fight.  Its something we need to work on.  I need to find a way to make them realize that when we are home its our rules.  I know this is going to be an ongoing process but realizing the problem is half the battle.  Right?

I had a horrible dye fail this week.  We have been going through our storage bins trying to weed out things we will never use again.  I came upon a set of curtains from when we lived in Wyoming.  I decided to try and dye them to match the living room.  Tan curtains + yellow dye= puke green curtains.   I think I will dye the grey instead.
This picture doesn't do the green justice

Yesterday I had the sheets on the clothes line.  It was super windy.  I went to take them off the line and the fitted sheet decided it needed a little adventure.  It was in our neighbors back yard.   Next time I will put double the clothes pins on that sucker.

I really want to go see What to Expect When You're Expecting this weekend. It couldn't have anything to do with that fact that I have met some of my closest friends through Bristol's WTE board.   Maybe it will happen, maybe not but it would be nice to go on a date with my husband. Its been a while.

Well I guess I should get the kids dressed for the day since all Bristol is wearing is here garage shoes at the minute.

I just realized have don't have picture in this post of Eldon, rest assured his is still here, just avoiding the camera!

Happy Wednesday.

Mother's Day Gifts

I like to have the kids make gifts.  I think homemade gift are way more special or at least that is my opinion.  Maybe its because I don't know how to pick out good gifts for other people.     We did art pictures last year.  This year we decide the kids should give flowers.  Lasting flowers.

First up I spray painted the flower pots white.

Then Eldon and Bristol painted them.

I don't have a very good picture of the finished product but I did take one with my phone.  They also colored the flowers.

For my Mother-in-law we did family pictures.   Didn't they turn out cute?

Tawny put a cute little picture collage together.  I wish I had a picture of that as well.

Week 19: Day 127-133

Eldon coloring his first picture.

Isn't that an awesome drool picture?
Bristol and Daddy looking at trucks.

Painting our mothers day gifts

This is what Bristol looks like after nap time.  She redresses herself

Fuss is obsessed with this pink tutu she got from her Aunt Serena a couple of Christmas' ago.

On our way home minus big sissy.  She stayed the night with Maga so Eldon read books on the way home to stay entertained. Is there any denying he is my son?

Mother's day

Mothers day weekend was wonderful.  I feel so blessed.   Saturday we did a little mini celebration with Jeremy's family.   Then on Sunday we did exactly what I wanted to do.  Spent the day at the lake.  It was wonderful.  I have missed the water so much.    I got to sit on the beach and relax while Jeremy kept an eye on the kids.  Bill and Cathy joined in on the fun as well.   It was a wonderful day.  I can't wait to do it again soon.  Like maybe next weekend?  Come on Jeremy you know you want to. :)  My only regret is that I didn't get a picture of me and the kiddos together.
Pre lake nap.

Eldon loved the sand.

You couldn't keep Bristol out of the water.

Having an afternoon snack with Paga.

Bristol swimming.  I think its time to enroll this little girl in swim lessons.

laundry, naps, and crafting

Lately I have become kind of crazy about saving money on our utilities.  It is important to me.  Even so much  so that I had Jeremy install a solar powered clothes dryer.  It works awesome :)    I didn't use to be this way.  I look forward to opening the statements each month to see how much we have saved.    So the other day I was thinking about why it has become such a big deal.  The answer, because I would much rather spend money on healthy food that on our utility bill.  I would much rather buy an assorted nut mix than a bag of chips.  I would much rather get Chobani Plain Greek Yogurt than sour cream.   I prefer Ben and Jerry's over store brand ice cream.  Well that last one isn't so healthy but hey a girl has to have her chocolate ice cream.  Since I live with 3 Eskimos who hate the heat our swamp cooler runs 12+ hours a day because we live in the desert.   So yep I am going to continue being crazy about the utility bill so I can add the money saved to our food bill.

I think Eldon may be giving up his morning nap.  This is a sad thing for me to say.  I can remember when Bristol  gave hers up, things have never been the same since.  I continue to put him down every day at 10 but for the last 3 days he has played in his crib peacefully for a whole 30 minutes before he lets me know he is not taking a nap and if I don't get him out right that minute the world will end.  He is really good about letting you know whats on his mind.

We made our Mother's Day gifts.  They turned out super cute. I can't wait to post the pictures but I will wait until both Mom's get theirs.

Well its time to go hang my laundry the go for a run.  Have a happy Friday everyone.

Tonight I am thankful.

Thankful for the life God has given me.

Thankful for the wonderful backyard I am currently blogging from.

Thankful for a steady job for Jeremy.  One that brought him home early today.

Thankful for healthy, most of the time, happy children.

Thankful for Jeremy.

Thankful that God is reminding me that in everything I can be thankful.

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
