Tuesday randomness and potty training update

Today I had to run errands.  I really do hate running errands.  I try to do everything twice a month on pay days but it never fails that we need something in between.   Since Jeremy was home this morning he watched the kids so I could have a couple kid-free and potty training-free moments.   Nothing is conveniently located in Colorado Springs.  You have to drive at least 7 miles for anything and Colorado drivers are just plan crazy.  Drivers ed in this state is nothing like it is in California and it is OBVIOUS!   Anyways it wasn't quite the relaxing morning I had envisioned.  I have wanted to get the kids a little plastic kiddie pool for a while now. So since the weather has been warm for more than a week now, I decided I would pick one up while I was at Target today.  Target DOESN'T sell plastic kiddie pools.  They only sell the inflatable ones.  Want to guess how long an inflatable pool would last with 3 dogs, I am willing to bet about 5 minutes max and then I would be one unhappy camper that the dogs popped my $40 dollar pool.   I finally found one at Ace Hardware, so I was super happy!   Also I was very happy with Ace's customer service.  They were super nice and even helped me carry the pool out to the car.  It is very rare for places to have good customer service these days.   So my plan for tomorrow is to play in the pool!  Yay!  I am excited.   Maybe I finally will be another color than Casper white!

Potty training is going!   It is such a time eating processes!  Bristol has only had 1 accident today.    We had to employ the potty bell.  Its a kitchen timer that goes off every 25 minutes, when it goes off Bristol has to go sit on the toilet for 1 minute.  It has really helped!

Well, that's all for today.

Holidays are a hard time for me especially summer holidays.   When I was a kid Memorial used to mean the start of river season.  BBQ's, sun bathing, boating, and campfires.   Lots of friends and family.   Now that we are away from all of our friends and family it is pretty much a non event.   It is a day of remembrance.   With Jeremy's work schedule its kind of hard to get involved in stuff and make friends to spend these types of holidays with.

Being the amazing man he is Jeremy turned my day around.  He BBQ for me!  Yay!  He made us a delicious dinner of BBQ Chicken with sauteed mushrooms and onions covered in swiss cheese, grilled corn on the cob, and a BBQ staple Bush's Baked beans!   YUMMY!  Bristol ate her first piece of corn on the cob, LOVED IT!

We also had a wonderful visit with Bekah.

Today started out kind of down but it finished off with a wonderful family BBQ!

Well I was going to post a photo of our delicious food but it wont let me!

Week 1: Day 2-7 and my hair

So here is the before/after of my hair.  I can't believe how long it is these days.  You really can't tell from this picture but there is red underneath.

Eldon's shirt said "Crabby but cute, just ask mommy"

Eldon was holding on to Bristol, so she decided to give him a hug!

Bristol wasn't feeling the camera today!

Eldon is rocking his mohawk here!

I love this picture!

Potty Training: Day 4 and my little rollie pollie

Have I mentioned this is hard work?  I factored in the extra laundry I would need to do but I never factored in how many baths Bristol would need thought out this little adventure! She is getting 2 a day now. One in the morning and then her regular night time bath.  Man, our water bill is going to be high this month!

This morning was a train wreck.  Right before her afternoon nap she asked to sit on the big potty, well since she really doesn't talk she did a lot of pointing and mommy finally figured it out! So I took her potty apart while she was napping and put it on the potty.  BINGO!  WE HAVE SUCCESS!   She pooped and peed on the potty like a champ.  The reason I was doing the little potty in the living room is because that's what the book suggested but since Bristol is very much into copying me these days I should have know it would go a lot better if she was using the regular potty and ITS A LOT EASIER TO CLEAN UP!   Tomorrow we are going to work on realizing that she needs to stop playing to go sit on the potty!

On to my little rollie pollie.   He rolled over from belly to back at 3 weeks and yesterday at 4 months 10 days he rolled back to belly.   So at 5:45am this morning Eldon thought it would be fun to practice his rolling skills, MOMMY disagrees!   He is so much different than Bristol.  And I am not saying that in a bad way just more of an observation.  From the day Bristol was born she was into figuring out how things worked and never really stops to socialize.  Eldon on the other hand is a little flirt.  He tries to coo his way out of taking naps all the time.  And his smile, boy does his smile make my heart melt.   Its so cool to see how different yet similar they are.

Random thoughts and Potty training day 3

I love this table.  I took this picture while I was waiting to get my hair did the other day.  I was flipping through a magazine and saw this and immediately fell in love!  Its an indoor picnic table!  How awesome is that?  Jeremy built our bed about 2 years ago because we just couldn't find anything we absolutely loved and we have been talking about doing the same thing with our dinning room table when we decide to upgrade.  SO here it is, this is what our table is going to look like.  Well in general, this is what it will look like.   I want it to be counter top height and ours will also sit 8.  I am think patinaed red chairs.  I will have to start hounding craigslist when the time comes because I want all 8 chairs to be different or maybe pairs.  and then we will sand them and paint them ourselves.  I am so excited.   It will have to wait a little while because we just don't have room for a bigger table at the moment but I am glad we finally found something we both love.
(this is our bed)

I want to redo Bristol's room.  I found the fabric, now I just have to wait until she is ready to move out of her crib.  Which if I have my way wont be for a long time.  But I am thinking, I will buy the fabric soon!

This is the fabric I am going to use but I am also going to add black and white polka dots to it!

Eldon has discovered his feet and he is very proud of this discovery!

I love blogging, its my free therapy.  I also love to read other peoples blog.  My list of blogs I am following grows daily.  I love "real" blogs.   When people actually write about how their life really is.  I don't follow any "sweet" blogs and I try to be as real as possible on mine.

Potty Training: Day 3

Bristol is terrified of her poop.   She cries every time it falls out of her little bum and she sees it.   I would like to cry every time she poops because is so SMELLY!  But once its out she is very quick to pick it up to go put it in the toilet!  Like super quick, so fast that Mommy can't stop her.  YUCK!!!!!! I am trying really hard to not bleach her hands but it is so disgusting.

So potty training is HARD work.  Can I just go back to diapers?   She did really good this morning she went and sat on the toilet every time she had to go and we went and dumped it out and washed our hands.  And then NAP time came.  She woke up soaking wet and very defiant.

I hope things go better tomorrow!

4 months plus 10 days

10 days late but I finally took Eldon's 4 month photo!   He is sitting in his chair without the assistance of the boppy!  Such a big boy.  He is trying so hard to roll from back to belly.

Potty Training: Day 2

*****Disclamer- I am NOT letting my child just squat and pee where ever she feels like it!   She has a potty which she has to sit on but since its potty training THERE are accidents and thats why I will have to have the carpets cleaned at the end of this little adventure!

Today was a rough day.  I am not sure what is going on with Eldon but he wanted to be held all day and Bristol wanted to whine about everything.  Probably because she woke up an hour earlier than normal and didn't take a very long nap.  She is getting way better about her bladder control and even managed to wake up from her nap DRY.

I think the highlight of the day was when she picked the poop up out of her potty to take it to the big potty.  HAHA!  I was tempted to spray bleach on her hands, but I didn't!  I just scrubbed her really well!

Potty Training: Day 1

Day one ended in a success on the potty!   This morning when I took Bristol out of the crib I told her, "Today I am taking away your diapers and you are going to sit on the potty like mommy and daddy".   It started out with a successful poop on the potty then took a wrong turn at peeing.   But by the end of the day she had 2 pee success' and 11/2 poop success.   I was so proud of her.  I didn't expect a miracle today and I knew there was going to be way more failures than success.

The hard part was she peed on blanket twice.  Bristol has to have blanket and I am not allowed to give blanket a bath.   So she had 2 thirty minute meltdowns when I had to wash blanket.

I was surprised she didn't have an accident when I put them in the jogging stroller for my run.

How am I potty training?  I am going with the N75 method in John Rosemond's book Toilet Training Without Tantrums.  Basically you let them run naked all day and in the end you spend $75 to have your carpets cleaned.  I do have to say, I really WISH we didn't have only carpet.   Although I am sure my carpets are going to be super clean by the end of this adventure because I am constantly cleaning up messes.  I also am not rewarding her.  I do not feel I should reward Bristol for something everyone around the world does.   Its expected therefor she will go to the bathroom on the toilet.

Also a word to people who are starting potty training soon, you can't DO anything during the process.  My house is going to be a disaster by the end of this little adventure.

So long until tomorrow when I let you all know how day 2 went!

days off...

what are these?   Jeremy does not work a normal 9-5 schedule, he works 12 hour shifts rotating between days and nights, week days and week nights so its kind of chaotic in the Bennett household.  Today was one of his days off but not really.  He worked night last night and didn't get home until 7:30am so he then slept till 11:30am.  So basically he only gets a 1/2 of a day off.  And of course we always have errands to run.  It never fails.  You would think that since we have 2 vehicles, I could do my running around on days he is working, WELL that would require a working vehicle.  Which because of my wonderful luck with vehicles I rarely have a running one.    And since we do not have a reliable babysitter I can't schedule my "make Savanna pretty" time for when Jeremy is at work.  So today I had to go get my hair done while my hubby was home.  Talk about a long 3 hours and I am not even sure if I like my hair at this moment.  It is really yellow looking and I HATE YELLOW hair.  As a natural blond I feel my hair should never look yellow.  But since I don't live outdoors in the sun all day long my hair no longer highlights on its own and I now have to pay someone to do it.  After my hair appointment we went to pick up my new-used stroller, which I LOVE, and then ran to Costco for my contacts, which still have not arrived even though they said I could pick them up on Saturday.  Hopefully my last pair, which are in my eyes, do not rip before I get my new boxes because Bristol felt the need to break my glasses a few weeks ago and since they are being held together with duct tape until I find the time to go pick out new one, they are not very efficient.  Then we went to target for more Bristol undies because she starts potty training TOMORROW!   When I went on Friday, I only bought one pack.  I am not to sure how I thought I could potty train her with only 6 pairs of undies.

So anyways you can see that a day-off in the Bennett household is just a day to cram full of running around.  One day we will have a day where nothing needs to be done.

Starting tomorrow I will be blogging about our potty training adventures....wish me luck!

Day 1:

Normally I will do this by weeks but I want to post my first set of pictures!

Bristol is covered in greek yogurt and Eldon is "Crabby but cute, just ask my mommy!"

365 and random thoughts....

I am in a very talkative mood these past 2 days.   But if you subscribe to my blog you obviously want to hear my randomness.   And if your my friend on facebook, you chose to click on the link! :).

I am going to take a picture of the kids each day for the next year.  I have seen this done by other blogs and friends and I want to do it.  Mainly for me but also for our families.   One of the first things Jeremy said last night when he got home was, "You guys have changed so much in 4 days.".   I don't see it.  I am with them everyday so I feel like I miss out on those subtle changes.   So for the next 365 days I am going to take a picture of the kiddos either separate or together everyday.  Also I am making a rule that I have to been in at least 1 picture every week. I am horrible at taking pictures with the kids.  One reason is I wear yoga pants and ginormous shirts most of the days and don't bother with hair and make up.  The other reason is I always have a double chin in pictures and it drives me insane. Maybe I can duct tape it back! BUT my insecurities are going to take a backseat to have photographic memories with my kiddos!   DON'T expect some grand picture!   It will be taken by me and if I have time I will use some kind of cool effect on Picnik.

Random thoughts of the day
I am getting another stroller :)!   When I told Hilary her response was "Another one!"....  Haha, for a girl who hates strollers I sure do go through a lot of them.  I love my jogging stroller and that will never be going away BUT it is way massive and doesn't work in stores.   I currently have a Combi Twin stroller and I like it but its a side by side so it doesn't fit down narrow isles.  So I decided to start researching tandem strollers and I found this one
So being the craigslist lover that I am, I found it for 1/2 price.  I am going to pick it up tomorrow!   Anyone want to buy a combi stroller?  I am selling one!

Another random thought is I have the worst luck with vehicles.   Jeremy thought he fixed my dead battery today but when I went to go pick up my craigslist find it was dead again!   So that's why I am getting it tomorrow!

Also I bought Greek yogurt for the first time on Friday and I LOVE IT!  So does Bristol.  She is currently covered in it!

Well I need to get of the computer and do some house work like the good house wife I am!

I know 2 blogs in 1 day, what can I say!  I am feeling very chatty today!

As you can tell from the pictures, Bristol has a new obsession!  It is diapers.  She loves to pull them out of the box and walk around the house with them.   So if I forget to close their bedroom doors, she takes it upon herself to go into their rooms while I am feeding Eldon to play in the diaper box.   Even if I stash it behind a chair or under the crib she manages to get them out.  Sometimes the whole box other times just the diapers.  Although this time it was my fault, I left the box in the middle of the floor and the door WIDE open.   I am not sure if her diaper obsession is because we are taking all Bristol diapers out of the house in the next day or two to start potty training or she is trying to figure out how the diaper tab works.

On to another diaper related topic, I cloth diaper Bristol when we are at home.  I don't feel like lugging all the supplies around when we are out and about so she wears disposables then.  She also wears disposables at night because they are way more absorbent.   So I have been waiting until Eldon was a little bigger to put him in cloth.  Well the time has finally come, he is going to cloth!  Yay!   I ordered his diapers today so when they arrive he will be rockin the cloth.   Normally I would go to the local cloth diapering store but the didn't have the orange color in stock so I had to order them BUT I got free shipping, so I was a happy girl!

Okay, its time to get off the computer and sew.

when he's gone....

I go crazy!  Jeremy is my stabilizer.  I probably should be on some sort of medication when he isn't home.  See when he is home it is 50-50 parenting or a lot of the time 75-25 parenting.  Him 75 me 25!  He has been gone for drill since Thursday and probably wont be home until 8 tonight and let me tell you I am living in crazy mode!

My weekend was supposed to be all nice and organized but no such luck.  I knew I had to go grocery shopping on Friday so I had arranged for a babysitter to come and watch the kiddo's so I could get it all done.  She cancelled last minute.  Grr, I was not happy.  So I ended up dragging the kids with me to Costco, Jo-Ann's and Target.   Jo-Ann's and their narrow isles do not work with Miss grab-everything-of-the-shelves Bristol.  But i managed to make it through and I tend to spend way less money when I have the kids with me because I can't browse as much!  The only place we didn't make it was the grocery store.  So my plan was to go this morning.  Yep, that didn't work because when I went to start the car, it was dead.  Just my luck.   At this point it wasn't worth my effort to get it jumped started and Jeremy has the jumper cables in Denver.    Oh and since the babysitter cancelled my pedicure got cancelled as well and letr me tell you, my toes are hideous right now.  Bristol is also in desperate need of her bangs being cut.  I tried to do it but it ended in mommy's hand bleeding.

I feel a little better now that I got this out!

Anyways, this is my ringtone for Jeremy.  God Gave Me You by Dave Barnes, says it all!

4 months old!

Eldon Jeremy, my grumpy old man, Junior Junior, Little Buddy, brother, turned 4 months old yesterday! I can't believe he is already 4 months!  He is getting so so so big.   Eldon is a very social little guy.   He loves to smile and if he isn't ready to take a nap he lets you know all about.  But when he is ready, he will just turn his head to the side and start sucking his thumb.  If your not fast enough, he falls asleep right where he is.  He is a BIG thumb sucker.   It makes both me and Jeremy nervous but I would much rather break the thumb habit that the pacifier habit.   He is turning into quite the little giggler.  Yesterday he was super mad at Jeremy for putting him in his bouncer.  He started screaming his head off and then I came over to talk to him.   He managed to scream and laugh at the same time, it was pretty darn cute!

Yesterday was also kind of a down day for me.  Eldon is 4 months old and has only met half of his immediate family!  Also he hasn't seen anyone but Mommy, Daddy, and Bristol since he was about 6 weeks old.   It makes me sad to watch Him and Bristol growing up without their extend family!

Here are Eldon's stats:
Height: 25 inch 70%
Weight: 14 lbs 8.5 oz 50%
6 month, 6-9 month tops
9 month Sleepers
3 month pants and shorts!

Compared to Bristol @ 4 months
Height: 25 1/2 inches
Weight: 15 lbs 5 oz

Here are some fun pictures from this last month!
Bristol loves Eldon.  Most of the time, the fastest way to calm him down, is to make Bristol go play with him!

My Little thumb sucker

I told you he falls asleep anywhere!

Monday randomness!

Yesterday me and Jeremy registered for the Life Center 5k Fun Run, okay maybe I registered us!   I am really excited about it.   I know a while back I talked about do a 5k.  So this will be my first one.  I need to get my but in gear because at the moment I have only managed to run 2 miles!  My goal for today is 2.5 miles.   If you are interested in sponsoring us here is our links,Jeremy's and Savanna's!  I think the Life Center is a really good cause.  They are a pro-life pregnancy center.

Fussy Junior's now has a logo and a website!  I am all kinds of official!  http://www.fussyjuniorsfinestitches.com/....

Last night we had tacos for dinner.  Jeremy told Bristol that she needed to eat her beans.  She looked at Blondie and said "Bean"!   Haha, she is so smart.  We call Blondie bean or booger bean a lot!
This is Blondie
Also today she was wiping her baby dolls butt with diaper wipes!   I am still not to sure how she got the diapers wipes but I am sure it involved some crazy death-defying climbing on her part!

I had something else I wanted to write about but I can't remember now!  Oh well!

Hope everyone is having a good Monday!

The happening in the Bennett family!

My amazing husband let me sleep in today!   Yay, I finally feel refreshed.    I have been staying up late the last couple days to fill orders for Fussy Junior's Fines Stitches and work on new product.   I love sewing and am really blessed to have a husband who encourages me to pursue all my crazy ideas.  Right now I am working on getting my website up and running.

Over the last two weeks I have been reading John Rosemond's , The New Six-Point Plan for Raising Happy,Healthy Children.   It was an awesome book and I recommend it to every one.  It is about simple yet effective parenting!

This week I have been reading his book about potty training, Toilet Training Without Tantrums, it is also an excellent book.  I didn't really seek it out to confirm that its okay to potty train Bristol but I wasn't sure how to start the potty training.   I am not the type of parent who says "Oh, we will potty train when Bristol is ready!", nope I am the type of parent who says "Well, if Bristol was the one who bought the diapers, or in our case, washed the diapers and changed every disgusting poopy diapers, and pays for the endless prescriptions of antibiotic diaper cream, THEN she could decide when to potty train!".  So the time has arrived for potty training.  We will start in the next week or two and no mater how many accidents there are, WE WILL NOT GIVE UP!    I really wanted to have her potty trained at 18 months but with Eldon, I just didn't have the energy!

Bristol also finished up her Mother's Day gifts for her Grandma's!  I know I am a slacker but what can I say, I AM A BUSY WOMAN! She was obsessed with the purple finger paint this time around!

I love these pictures so much, I am going to pick up another canvas so she can paint one for our living room!

Here is the Fussy Girl in my latest Fussy Junior's creation!

Here are some fun pictures from the week!

 Mom!  What is that thing?

old married woman....

YEP, its official!  I am an old married woman!   First off let me say my yoga pants are WAY more comfortable then my goin' out clothes!   I have been married for 5 years, 5 months, 2 weeks and 6 days!  It was long enough to make me into an old maid.

If you didn't know we went on a date tonight.   We went to see Fast Five!   The main reason I wanted to see it was Dwayne Johnson.  I love his most recent movies!  I could probably watch Tooth Fairy and The Game Plan a minimum of 2 times a day.  I love when he plays a pompous jerk!   I have to say I was slightly disappointed in his role in this movie!    Other than that it was an okay movie.  It wasn't really worth the $$ it cost us to get in but it was a nice break from the kiddo's.

All in all, it was a wonderful expensive night.   I didn't realize how expensive dating has gotten!
Here is me tonight!
I forgot to take a picture with Jeremy and by the time I thought about it we had both changed into our comfy clothes!
