6 weeks

Where has it gone?  6 weeks and 1 day ago I was miserable.  Then our wonderful bundle of joy came in to this world.  I am still having a hard time grasping that Eldon is 6 weeks old today!   He is such an interesting little guy! I still haven't really figured him out.   He is really not getting on board with my schedules, which is not making for a very happy momma!  Yesterday night he went down after his 7pm feeding with absolutely no fuss.  I was amazed.  Both kiddos where in bed by 8pm!  So I cleaned up the Bristol hurricane and picked up the kitchen as I do nightly!  Then instead of going to straight to bed I decided to read for a little while.  Eldon has been sleeping from 7-2 or 3 am for about a week now so I didn't see any harm in staying awake to read a couple chapters in my book.  BIG mistake.  I realized my mistake when the little stinker woke me up at midnight to feed him.  As soon as I crawl back into bed at 1ish and just fallen asleep Miss Fuss Fuss decides she is going to wake up.  Which is very rare.   So I go in and rock her back to sleep because she is not feeling well at all.    Well needless to say last night was a very LONG night.   Tonight on the other hand Eldon is wide awake in his swing.  He has been fed, has a clean diaper, and is all nice and snug in his swaddle.  BUT he screams bloody murder every time I put him in the play pin.  So after letting him cry for 5 minutes, yes I know that seems harsh to most people, I go in and get him.  So since I don't want him to think I am going to rock him to bed every night, I stick him in his swing when he is fighting sleep.  This allows me to do my nightly cleaning and normally when I am ready to go to bed around 9 or 9:30 he has fallen asleep.   We will see what happens tonight, hopefully the little guy at least gives me a 7 hour stretch.  Because as Jeremy metioned causually on his way out the door for work tonight, I am not a morning person.

I have accepted it!

I have accepted that I will never again get out of the house in a timely matter, with everything I need, and feeling put together.  Every time I walk out of the house these days I have forgotten something or feel like I am forgetting something.  Don't worry I have never forgotten my children!  On Thursday Eldon started Physical therapy and it started at 8:30 am.  Who in their right mind can be ready to leave the house that early with 2 little ones?  Needless to say that even with Jeremy home we where running out the door with Bristol's breakfast in a ziploc bag! I set the alarm for 5:30!  Eldon decided to wake up at 5.  So I was already up and feeding him when it went off.  Well Jeremy must of turned it off instead of hitting snooze. So at 6:45am I woke up in the glider!  Eldon is snoozing on my lap in the boppy and Jeremy is snoring in bed.  Haha!   It was a mess.   Today I needed to go to the grocery store because I put it off as long as possible!  We where almost out of coffee and completely out of creamer which is a crisis in the Bennett house.  So my plan was to leave at 12:30.  It didn't happen!  We didn't get out the house until almost 3.

But in all this chaos.  I am thankful for it.  I am very thankful for my 2 little ones.

Eldon rolling over

This is happening way to fast for me!  Bristol didn't roll over until about 7 months so I expected the same with this little guy!  Not so much!  The pediatrician told us its rare for them to roll over this soon!  He has been doing it since 3 weeks but this is the first time I have gotten it on video!

Bristol and Eldon have had lots of visitors these last couple of weeks.   This past weekend my Mom, Dad, and Sister came to visit.   Bristol wasn't really sure what to think at first.   She definitely remember who Aunt Hilary is since she was just here in November.   She accepted Grandma after that but didn't really know what to make of Grandpa.   Well that all changed because Grandpa would push her around in her stroller and she loved that.  He also got her out of her crib a few times unlike the mean Mommy who was leaving her in there until she was done feeding Eldon.   Eldon loved Grandpa.  And Grandpa was the only one who could calm him down in the evenings when he is a fussy little old man.   All in all Bristol had a blast and was wondering around Monday morning looking for everyone.   Note to anyone who is thinking about letting Hilary take their kids to the park, DON'T!  haha I am just joking.   She didn't realize how fast Bristol goes for the slide once she gets to the top of it.  But thankfully when Bristol dived she landed on the slide and went down to where Grandpa was waiting to catch her.

Mother in laws....

I know several women who complain about their mother in laws and it makes me sad.   I have an amazing mother in law and I wouldn't trade her for the world.  She just spent a week with us and it was a wonderful relaxing week which I was in desperate need of because Eldon has decided he wants to eat every 3 hours at night again.  Grrr.    The best part about the whole visit was seeing Bristol interact with her Grandma.  She loved it.  This morning when she woke up she seemed very disappointed to see me and not Grandma.  Then she went looking all over the house for her, well after she found Eldon!   It makes me sad that our kiddos can't grow up with seeing the Grandparents on a regular basis instead they see them 2 times a year but that is the season of life we are in and I am hoping God willing we wont be in this season to much longer.

Such a beautiful day!

So we decided to take a walk to the park.   It felt really good to get out and get some exercise!

Eldon's Baby Dedication

We had Eldon dedicated yesterday at 3 weeks and 5 days old.  A little younger than when we did Bristol's dedication but we wanted to have some family there to witness it!   So since Cathy is here we called the church to see when the next dedication day was and to our surprise it was yesterday.

I was very nervous about this whole thing.  Bristol has never been in the sanctuary during a service before.  She has been going to the nursery since she was a week old so I wasn't sure how she would do with all the noise.    At first she wasn't sure what to think so she clung tightly to my neck. She let go at times to clap with everyone else but for the most part she held on tightly to mommy.   Right before it was our time to go up on the stage she decided it was time to hold on to daddy.

I am pleased to say that neither of our kids screamed during the dedication which made all my worry pointless.

My procrastination did NOT pay off!!!!

So I have had a cyst on my back right above my bra line since I was pregnant with Bristol.  One of the many wonderful things people don't mention about pregnancy is it is very common to have skin growths, cyst, and moles that attack your body during said pregnancy.  I have had all of these over my 2 pregnancy's.   Well this cyst wasn't bothering me so I was just leaving it be while I was pregnant and planned to have it drained after Eldon was born.  Well about a week after I delivered my grumpy old man it started to become red and painful.  So I called the dermatologist and scheduled an appointment for today.  Well on Wednesday it had become so painful I couldn't even put pressure on it which was making sitting very awkward!   Jeremy made me call the doctors office and see if I could come in.   They said sure.  I got in there and the doctor informed that he was going to drain it, which I expected.  What I did not expect was the pain that would be involved.   He numbed all around it but could not get under it where the true pain was coming from.  So he then proceeded to cut it open and squeeze like a pimple.  OW!   I cried pretty much the whole time while my very loving husband let me squeeze the crud out of his hand!    Today Jeremy had an appointment with the same doctor so he asked if he could just look at my back to make sure its healing okay because the last 2 days its still been oozing puss and blood.  Good thing he looked because its infected and the cyst is trying to come back.  So now I am on antibiotics in hopes that it will clear up but if not I get the wonderful pleasure of going back to have it drained a second time. To sum up my story, if you have a cyst get it taken care of before it becomes irritated!   :)  Here are some pictures of my painful experience!

Sibling Love!

I love that Bristol wants to hold Eldon all the time!   I also love that she is willing to share her greatest treasure, blanket, with him.  I figured if he got any where near the blanket that she would flip out but nope the minute I put him down on the floor she brings it over and covers him up!   Its so sweet.

On another note, my little boy is strong!  He is already lifting up his head constantly!  Bristol always had really good head control but I don't remember it starting this young with her!

This is why!

So like the bad mom that I am, I let Bristol play with the parent unit of the her baby monitor all the time!  It keeps her entertained long enough for me to make up the bed or maybe if I am really lucky long enough to put away our endless laundry!   So for about a week now the monitor has been cutting in and out and only works when she does her death scream for us to get her out of the crib.   I pulled out the booklet to call the company but I haven't gotten around to it well because I am exhausted and if I have a choice between sitting on the phone with Vtech or a nap, I am going to PICK the nap!     Well today Jeremy picks it up and pushes the "Sensitivity" button on the side of it!  Little Miss Fuss Fuss had turned the sensitivity all the way down and that's why it was only picking up her death screams!   Haha!  The morale of this story is you shouldn't let Bristol play with the baby monitor unless you are smart enough to turn the sensitivity level back up!

My poor neglected blog!   Haha!  Well I finally feel like we are in a rhythm that I know will so get disrupted again!    Eldon is eating every 3-4 hours like clock work which has been a major adjustment!  Bristol was already sleeping 5-6 hour stretches at night by 2 weeks.  Eldon also loves to be swaddled where Bristol hated it.  She would scream bloody murder until I unwrapped her.  Eldon seems way more laid back than Bristol was as a  baby which I don't know how that is possible because Bristol has always been a pretty laid back kid!  Bristol is still in love with her little brother which makes my heart happy.   It used to be when Daddy was working night she would go into our room and jump on him when she woke up now she runs into our room and looks in the play pin for Eldon!  She gets really mad if I don't bring him out to the living room right away.  Poor little guy is going to be his sisters dolly until he can stand up for himself.  She would hold him all day long if I let her!   The other day we let her help out with bath time and she thought that was like the greatest thing in the world.  In other words she just stood and the stool and observed what mommy and daddy where doing!

Last week my Nana and Papa came to visit!   It is a really special thing for my kids to have great grandparents!     They brought Miss Bristol a tea set which she thought was the greatest thing in the world and she proceeded to have tea with Papa and Daddy all night long!

We are definitely still adjusting to being a family of 7 instead of 6 but it is a wonderful adjustment!   I can't wait to for the day that Eldon is old enough to play with his big sister!
